2007 Corolla Timing Chain Tensioner will not reinstall.

Hello

My 2007 corolla 5 spd (1zz-fe) had a timing chain tensioner leak, so I removed it to install a new one. When I tried to push it back into the bore on the engine it won't seat completely, it is 1/4" from being fully inserted.

It is a genuine OEM part that I got from the dealer

I compared it to the old one, it looks identical

It is fully compressed with the pin latched and locked

I managed to get a few pictures of inside the bore. It looks like the black plastic tensioner bumper on the timing chain guide arm is pushing inside the hole.

Any help towards a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Well if you put the other one in and it seats fully but the new one doesn't. Obviously it's not build correctly. We're talking about a few thousands of an inch here and there. You would need a micrometer to measure to see if there's a difference between the two

They both (old and new) do not fit by 1/4"
