My dad has a 2007 Ford Focus and the air conditioning is acting odd. The passenger side is cold just a few seconds after turning the AC on, but the driver's side can take anywhere between 5-10 minutes to cool down. There is no dual climate control, so I'm confused as to what could cause this issue.
Is the airflow still the same across all your front vents? Or is it also blowing weak from the driver’s vent?
Either way I’d check to make sure you have the right amount of refrigerant in your Ac system, and if you did, check your heater core & blend door actuators.
Low refrigerant can cause uneven cooling in the evaporator.
If it's low refrigerant, would that indicate a leak in the system somewhere?
Possibly, but there is always a small amount of seepage present and the car is 14 years old. It can be checked for leaks by injecting UV dye or using an electronic detector.
Try to check the cabin air filter to see if it is clogged. If it is not clogged, also try checking the ac and see if it is low
