It has 241xxx miles, runs good, no check engine, daily driven. Only thing it needs new brakes. Wants $4,000… Is this a good reliable vehicle since my 1st time owning a car

How do you know that? Have you had a good mechanic inspect it?

Not particularly. At that age and mileage the transmission is probably near the end of its service life even if the engine is in good condition. If a mechanic says it's OK though you may get a couple of years or so out of it.
