Should I use Gunk engine degreaser?

I have a 2009 Honda Civic. My mechanic says it's leaking oil on the spark plugs. It's fairly costly to have it repaired.  So while I'm saving money for the repair I was considering just cleaning the engine with Gunk Engine Degreaser for now. Do you think it's a good product? And is it ok to use in this scenario? Thanks for your response.

Many decades ago when cars didn't have so many electrical components engine cleaning was no big thing. Modern cars have electronics everywhere now, including the engine bay. To get Gunk and other cleaners off, water is typically used. That creates a bigger problem because water is the enemy of anything electrical. You want to avoid getting your engine wet. In some situation, such as when oil is getting on coils and spark plugs, I sometimes use a rag with cleaner.
