I have a small oil leak, from main seal and valve covers. Currently have 300,000 miles. Will AT-205 re-seal stop it and also leaks from valve covers? Without possible damage, long term effect, on the engine?
My GX470 2008 with 190k has a rear main seal leak as well, but it isn't bad enough to worry about, no noticeable amount of oil loss.
As for the Valve cover gasket, they are not that hard to do yourself. Even if you have it done at your local mechanic, it would likely cost around $200 at most.
I would not bother with AT-205 unless you have to, how much oil are you losing?
It leaks very little. Just monitoring now as it just showed up on the garage floor. However, I have seen what AT-205 does and it really works. Scotty has recommended it and I've seen actual results.
AT-205 will not help with valve cover leaks, it is meant for rubber seals. It may or may not help with your rear main seal leak for a period of time if the seal is not physically worn out or damaged. As already mentioned if the leak is small (no noticeable drop in oil level) don't bother, just keep an eye on it.
Thank you.
