Hey Scotty, I have a 2007 Honda CRV with 218k miles on it. It runs great, but I have an issue with the dome lights. I've checked every door switch and the overhead dome light switch and they seem ok. However the dome lights done shut off no matter what position the overhead switch is in. Any ideas?

That switch should be a hard disconnect (3 position switch?). If so, I'd take that cover off and inspect that overhead switch for shorted wires/bas contactor on switch.
@hillbilly
It does when I turn it OFF, but they dont ever go out in the DOOR position.
ah, I misunderstood. pull the door switches and inspect backside of switch for shorted/ twisted wires. I've broken a few with my foot working on cars... : (
@hillbilly
Thanks I'll check. If they come back ok? Any ideas?
Pretty sure that'll find it, if not, get back and I'll look at schematic on that particular model to see IF other possibilities.
@hillbilly
Thank you.

Hey I checked all 4 doors. I found that all 4 doors have 1 wire leading to the switch, all of the wires have about 115ohms resistance. Three out of 4 of the wires has a good solid ground tone to ground when I test it. The door behind the driver shows 117ohms resistance but does NOT tone out to ground for some reason. All 4 of the switches themselves appear fine.
Ok, the switches are completing the circuit by adding ground, I presume it "opened" when pressing the switches?
Also, might be a tangent, but the one having resistance is where I'd start although it seems backwards... um, if that 117 ohms is there when the switch supposed to be open would cause the light to light, albeit a tad dimmer....
edit, follow check that door wire bundle for crimps etc
That system poweres the bulbs and seeks ground through the body module or the door switches. The door switches are most likely bad and the two that go bad the most are the drivers door and the rear gate. Pop out those switches and unplug them. If the light goes off, then you found your bad switch.
They are bastards and can fool you. Make sure you are on the correct switch setting on the light before saying the switch is good or not. Only open one door at a time.
You may have to remove all door switches to find this gremlin. Screws are rusty on this vehicle so use an impact to remove them and WD40
