2007 Nissan Tiida Latio Reverse Taking Time To Enter

Dear Scotty & fellow forum members,

I have an automatic 2007 Nissan Tiida Latio. I think it is called Nissan Versa in some markets.

1. When I shift to reverse, it takes around 6 seconds to enter into Reverse (though the beep beep reverse sound is instant)

2. Sometimes it does not enter reverse at all. If I press accelerator, it suddenly bumps into reverse.

3. Very often in the morning when I shift from Parking to Drive, it is very hard to pull down the gear.

4. It has no issues when driving through the gears 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

What is the likely cause of the above?

Most likely the transmission issue. Have a mechanic to check your transmission with their scan tools and pray it is something simple like solenoid.

Thanks a lot for your response. I will try to look for a mechanic I can trust.

Yeah you’ll need to have it looked at, by a transmission specialist. Has the fluid ever been changed?

You didn’t mention the mileage, but it’s also possible that the weak Jatco transmission is nearing its end of useful life.

I bought the car at around 135000km (83000 miles).

I added around 15000km (9300 miles) on it.

I did my regular servicing 1 month back. We changed the gearbox oil for the first time since I bought the car.

My mechanic told me the oil was dirty. We put the Nissan branded gearbox oil from the Nissan dealer itself.

I see. Did all this start to happen after the fluid change?
