2007 Toyota Corolla 1.8l Engine Ticking On Cold Start

Hey Scotty,

I got some engine noise coming from my Corolla. It ticks loudly when I fire it up on a cold start and gets louder with higher rpm’s. As the motor warms up it stops ticking. I’ve seen a bunch of controversy over this topic with this particular motor. I’m reaching out and wondering is it, or is this noise not normal? Should I be concerned? The car only has 148,000 miles and doesn’t burn oil. I’m using penzoil high mileage 5w-30 per the manufacturer recommendation.

Well often many of them do that because the variable valve system gets a little knocking noise until the oil pressure builds up and then the noise goes away. It's usually a relatively expensive fix, but sometimes if you flush the engine oil out then change the oil filter that can free things up in the ticking can go away. Try my friend. Bernie from Albuquerque's ATS engine oil flush. Just Google that and you'll see where you can get it. It's the best place. It gets rid of carbon that builds up and can make them clack

Sounds good! Thanks for the insight. I just purchased the fuel and oil additive from them. I will relay any feedback i hear from the motor! much appreciated scotty!
