I have a 2007 toyota highlander 2.4 with about 150,000 miles on it. I was going up a hill one day it lost power, steering wheel locked up on me. I just made it to a safe place to pull over. The motor was making a knocking sound. Before this happen my oil light was on, vsc light was on and check engine light was on. I checked for a code it was p0012 code. I deleted it and it made my steering wheel unlock but still the engine knocks.
1. I put new oil in it that didnt help it
2. I just bought a new vvt sensor but the bolt snapped off so i got to drill it out. If i get the vvt sensor in and it still dont help it.
What else could it be? I just dont want it to be a blown engine. I know maybe the Camshaft and oil pump
Unfortunately if you lost oil pressure due to low oil level or a bad oil pump what you're probably hearing is a rod knock due to damaged bearings - engine effectively ruined. Those engines are known for oil burning. How low did the oil level get?
Dang thats not what i wanna hear lol. It was low like here is the first * on the dip stick second *...oil. I changed the oil in October and 3 months it blew but it did seem to go through the oil though
