2007 Toyota Rav4 V6 160,000kms whomp whomp noise, I'm on holidays in mexico, help!!
I'm down on the Baja for the next 2 months, I drove my 2007 Rav4 V6 from BC, Canada down here and now it has a whomp whomp noise, I was thinking I lost a wheel weight on these terrible roads, nope they are all still there. I was thinking a wheel bearing, nope the hub and bearings are all tight. Now I'm thinking it might be the passenger side front inner CV joint. I jacked it up and it seems to have a bit of play. Question? Should I have it replaced down here or should I chance it til I get home 5000 kms and then replace it myself with known parts? What is the danger if it fails? There seems to be some good mechanics here but I'm not sure, what would you do?? I hope you read this, love your show!!
Well I sure as heck wouldn't trust Mexican mechanics. Now. You can hear wheel bearing noise long before there's any play you can ever. If you find that it goes faster, the faster you go odds are it's a wheel bearing starting to go, but often they go a long time before they actually have play. If you want to make sure where the noise is coming from, do my video finding the source of car noise Scotty
Thanks for the reply, we're down here until mid March, I'll check out your video and continue to monitor it. I'd rather do any work on it when we gt back home, you've given me the confidence to fix my own stuff!! Thanks Again!
