2007 Volvo V70 "Brake Failure Stop Safely" - 133k miles, AW55-50SN Automatic

While I was driving today I saw a message that said Brake Failure Stop Safely on my dash. Both the DSTC light and ABS light have been on and off intermittently and were on at the time that this happened. I also have the code P0193 for the fuel rail pressure sensor (can't imagine how these things relate to each other). I shut off the car and it started up perfectly fine and the brake warning was gone. I was able to drive home with no issues. The car has 133k miles

The Brake Failure Stop Safely problem seems to be a BCM issue on these cars.

For the other code, change the fuel filter and then pressure test the fuel pump.

first check that your pads and rotors are alright, that your alternator is in good condition, That your battery ain’t too old (to rule out that it’s anything electrical), that your break fluid is full and that your breaks have been bled recently. (Replacing the break fluid can help, I’ve seen water get in there and cause these kinds of issues)

It’s very common to see ABS modules fail on Volvos of the time. I herd some people got away with used modules form eBay (I saw some for P1 Volvo’s for under $100), but I’m not sure if that’s a risk worth taking.

To access the codes of the ABS module you need an advanced tool, Volvo’s have a trick that allows them to show in what modules they have DTC stored. (Will link in comments)

I have have had the exact same thing happen with my Volvo C30 (you can see it in my profile pic). I just turned off and on the car, and never had the same issue every since.
