Scotty I wanted to know whats your opinion on a 2008 Acura TL with 120,000 miles. Is it better to get the type s or standard and is the transmission on the car relaible?
Having owned an '03 CL and an '07 TL, I had good experience with the 3.2 liter engine. I put over 400k on the CL. The '08 TL shouldn't be haunted with the problems of the '01-'03 transmissions. If I recall correctly, the TL Type S has the 3.5 liter engine and a 6 speed manual transmission was available. I'm driving a Lexus ES350 because I drive a lot and got tired of spending $1100 for the dealer to replace the timing belt, spark plugs, belt tensioner, and water pump every 100k miles.
I would be comfortable buying an 2008 TL with 120K at a reasonable price if a reputable mechanic thinks it was properly maintained with no problems and gives his/her blessing.
I like the TL Type S myself, but the TL was a decent car regardless. Just make sure you have a mechanic check it out so you don't have any nasty surprises.
