I bought a set of spark plugs and coil packs from Amazon, but I thought that the whole package was Motorcraft parts. Turns out, the spark plugs were, but the coil packs say made in china. I am an O.E.M. kind of guy. Do you think that I should keep them, or send them back. I want reliability.
Think you are confusing OEM and china made. A lot of things be Chinese made that is OEM. That being said. Is there actually a brand in the coils? Or something indicating a part number that can be assigned to a brand? If nothing besides saying made in China then yes, no good. No name, no brand, no status, no go. If it does have something inferring a brand then it's fine and you will probably be okay though I would never personally buy actual car parts from Amazon. Would rather talk to a O'reilly's guy who will get my order wrong 3 times than go through Amazon.
Turns out that they do have a sticker on the side of the box. It has the number 7805-1155. I looked it up and the brand is Aceon. Would they be okay?
Downvoted me for no reason, how dare. Just kidding. No worries. Is curious as to why though. For reference.
As for that brand. I have never heard of it so I turn to my good pal Google. Google tells me it is cheap china crap. Knock offs whom claim to be OE while having an impossible return policy, the company is also not BBB rated so I wouldn't trust it for Jack. Amazon seems to have taken down the page for these plugs. Good luck.
There's a third possibility, one implied but not directly stated: Counterfeit OEM parts. I have a Camry, so my focus is on counterfeit Toyota parts. A Toyota Master Diagnostician, aka on YouTube, thecarcarenut, has a half-hour on how to spot the visual differences (sometimes subtle) between the packaging, printing and parts quality of counterfeit Toyota parts and genuine OEM parts. Where are these most available? Amazon and Ebay, of course.
I'll buy on Amazon and Ebay, but only if the vendor is verifiably a legitimate Toyota dealer (and there are some dealers who use those sites).
Yeah... I'd send that back to Bezos for a refund and get the real thing.
