I just discovered oil leaking from the oil pan on my mothers 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe it’s just leaking right through the pan it’s not even near the drain plug and I checked it’s tight. the pan is also flaky in the middle like it may be rusting inside out where the oil is oozing out. It’s only got 84,000 miles. Why is this happening? Does the oil pan just need be replaced?
If it's rusting underneath, then you must live up north where there's snow. I would change the oil pan now. Pray that the oil pan fixes the problem; if it doesn't then you must take that thing to a mechanic immediately.
Just dropped it off I’m waiting to hear back from the guy tomorrow I’m not taking chances trying to fix it myself. I do Live north and we do get snow so I guess I should be surprised then if the pan rusted from that.
car is fixed. They replaced the oil pan and gasket. $230 later oil change included.
