Hey, y'all. I have a 2008 Subaru outback l.l bean editon. It's an automatic with a mileage of 115k. I've recently notice a slight clanking noise in the front my car when I drive around.( sounds like the front right tire area/ middle engine area) This sounds comes and goes. But lately it's been persistent. Ive tried to see if it occurred when I go over bumps. And sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It happens at random times. I realized it's more louder when I and driving slow (up to 45 mph) but disappears when I pass 50 mph (some times the noise is slightly there but other days it's not)
I've taken it to multiple mechanics and they couldn't find out what it was (the noise stopped when I took it in). I think it might be the cv axle but I'm not too sure. ( I Also want to know a good website to purchase car parts for a cv axle) hopefully I can pinpoint the noise or get suggestions on what it might be to get it fixed also get a reliable website to order parts! Thank you!!
I use rockauto.com to order parts. They have parts from multiple different manufacturers and you can sometimes even find oem parts for cheap on there.
Try to get under the car and shake everything as hard as you can (the cv axle, tie rods, sway bar, control arm). You will likely find the noise of you try hard enough 🙂
If you can pinpoint it try posting a video of the noise up here.
