Car is 09 camry 4cyl manual trans. with 190k miles. Bought it from original owner who commuted to work 50-60 miles daily for over 10 years.  Per previous owner car has no history of major engine or tranny repair incl. clutch & used about a half quart oil between changes, which was every 5k miles. I got the car 2 months ago & put 1000 miles on it- mostly city driving.

Changed oil, pcv valve & spark plugs.  Air filter is still very white & clean. All of the old plugs I removed are Iridium & were very light brown at contact points. Replacement plugs are also Iridium. No black, greasy deposits at exhaust pipe either before or after I did the aforementioned things. Only dry, mild amount of black, dry, dusty residue observed.

Per tag under the hood, engine # is 2azfe. Checking oil weekly & don't see any noticeable drop in level.

Per your videos these engines made from 2007 to 09 burned oil prematurely due to poor quality piston rings. Is this problem consistent from year to year? In other words, was one year or years worse than others within that time period?

Thanks

They don't all necessarily burn oil I've seen that something that did some that didn't it was a piston ring problem and not all of them were made bad

Follow-up to earlier question about the 2009 camry 4 cyl:
Uses about 3 qts oil over 4500 miles. Coolant leak-test revealed bad water pump. This likely may be the primary cause for coolant loss recently seen. Pump replaced.
The following checks were also done with the results:
Combustion pressure check done with the readings 190psi on each of 3 cylinders, 200 psi on the 4th cyl as viewed from the front of the car.
Each plug examined: insulation very light brown, no oily, black or watery accumulation on insulators of plug tips or bottom rim.
Black-light test for exterior leaks negative.
No oil seen in coolant before & after pump was replaced.
No water seen in oil before & after it was changed. Oil & filter change done at same time as water pump replacement.
No watery or oily discharged seen in tailpipe.
Engine runs & starts right up fine-no misfires or smoke seen from exhaust.
A mechanic suggested that a leak may be occurring between the passage in the engine from the oil pump to the head. Please review & advise. Thanks.

It just really depends on how your engine was made. My wife had an '09 TC with that same engine and it would burn about 1.5 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. The car had about 110k miles on it before we sold it. Tried to get Toyota to rebuild the engine under the warranty extension on that engine, but the local dealership deemed the oil burning not sufficient enough to replace the piston rings. I thought that was ridiculous considering how much oil it was burning, but what'cha gonna do?

If your engine isn't burning much oil at that mileage then it should be good. Just keep an eye on the oil level.
