I have a 1999 Toyota Camry that I'm having trouble removing the drivers CV joint from the transmission. It left the wheel hub fairly easily, but I cannot get it pulled, chiseled, or pried out of the trans. I'm about to take it to a shop, but as a last efforts I was seeing if anyone has used a "Axle Puller Tool"? Any good tips to get it out?
There's friction rings that lock the axle into the groove of the transmission.
You will need a axle shop for this.
What will the shop do that I cant? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a shop just going to pry it out with air tools or a punch? I've seen many backyard rebuilds with these Camrys and it can't be possible these people bring their cars to a shop to have the axles removed, then to bring the car home and remove the engine. Especially on an older car like this, there has to be some tool to get these things out that's not shop specialty
