I'm thinking of buying a 2009 Corolla with stick shift and a 2AZ-FE engine for $5,000 in Chicago. Car is in immaculate condition. Not sure about the engine. How do I know if it burns oil because of faulty piston rings. When I took it out for a ride it was really nice. According to Carfax the spark plugs were replaced at around 135,000 which was 115 miles ago. Also the computer was reprogrammed at that time. Is that usual? The car looks new with a minor dent on the fender. I don't want to pass on a car that could go the distance. I like stick shifts. Thanks

Unless it has had the Pistons and rings replaced by Toyota under warranty it will burn oil those all do as they age they can be good vehicles but don't over pay for an oil burner
