I have a 2009 ford escape Limited AWD 3.0L. My power steering assist fault came on and my steering is gone. I’ve done extensive research and saw many saying the power steering torque sensor could’ve went out. Some say maybe rack and pinion. I am stuck, I called ford unfortunately my car wasn’t apart of the recall on this particular issue and it’s a pretty expensive fix. I was wondering what you maybe think it is that’s going on? I want to save money.
Well first find a guy like me with a fancy scan tool. We can test the power steering system and unfortunately from my experience it's usually the motor assembly goes bad and yet cost a fortune. But you never know if you get any kind of a short and the power steering system like that sensor it can act up. So find a guy like me. Who knows what he's doing to tell you what's actually wrong first
