Is it a bad idea to buy a 2018 golf r with 75,000km on it in great condition. Is the carbon build up an issue? When i buy it can i just get it blasted? And is it risky with no more warrantee ? Thanks scottie love all you do
No stay away from Volkswagens . They're rolling piles of junk.
If the pre-purchase inspection check out, then you may very well have something alright. Granted, it's not going to be as good as Japanese cars, but here's the things you should keep in mind.
1. All Golf Rs are built in Wolfsburg, even the US/Canada models. That usually means that they are better built than the Golfs made in Mexico.
2. The Golf R is a fast car. Be wary of signs of abuse.
3. Some Golf Rs have both port and direct injection, though it may just be for the European models. If the PPI does see carbon buildup, you can certainly get it cleaned, but it could be expensive.
4. You are buying a 6 year old used car. It's very unlikely that there will be a warranty.
5. 75k km isn't a lot of mileage. There may be some life left in this thing.
Thanks appreciate the insight
