Hey Everyone,
Wondering what possible issues and/or solutions for brake caliper that doesn't seem to want to release all the time. Burning smell- again sometimes, but not always. Our trustworthy mechanic is an hour from where we live and he was concerned about driving it up to him. Thanks again for your help!!

It sounds like the piston is corroded and getting stuck in its bore. Either rebuild or replace the caliper. Autozone -

Your mechanic is right to be concerned about you trying to drive to him. If replacing the caliper yourself is not an option, consider finding a mobile mechanic or towing your car to a nearby shop.
