My 2009 honda accord 2.4 with 144k miles might be burning oil. I had an oil change in mid may and rn its low. Idk if its normal or not. I used regular oil and not synthetic. Anything I should know?

The Honda Accord oil burning consumption for the 8th Gen (model years 2008-2012) falls into 2 camps:  not all vehicles experienced it, and it’s not clear just how widespread the issue was.

  • 2008-2012 with 2.4L I4 engines
  • 2008-2012 with 3.5L V6 (with VCM)

Model years 2008-2010 seemed to be the worst of it.  How low is the oil now?  Put another way, how many miles since your last oil change and how much oil would you need to add?  Also, how often are you changing your engine oil?

my '08 burns 1 quart every 3000 miles, which is not that bad, probably something that you will have to live with

think of the exercise that you will get checking the oil

I think I'll have to get used to it. I did drive alot so yeah. I'll probably live with it. Maybe I'll keep or or get rid of it idk. All ik is im still paying it off. Is there something I could do to slow the oil consumption?

i have heard that replacing the PCV may help

the dealership was no help, told me that burning oil was normal

it is still a decent car though, just have to keep some oil in the trunk

Is there like a class action lawsuit or something. I really love my car and the car I had before was an oil burner and leaked and I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this again. Literally I just purchased it 6 months ago
