Hey Scotty, greeting from Toronto Canada. I'm little bit confused what to look for, either 2009-10 Lexus IS250 AWD or 2012-13 Toyota Camry? I'm a married man in late 20s with no children yet. both cars will have about 110k-150k km in the market and both are about the same price (about 10k Canadian). Which of both are better in terms of reliability and maintenance DIY? I'm mechanically inclined a bit and know simple things like changing brake pads and fluids in the car, Which one should I focus on getting?
And I think I'm going to buy a car from private individuals because dealerships are charging too much for cars in Ontario.
Thanks in advance
Both are good, reliable cars, not hard to work on. The condition of the particular car - preventive maintenance performed, city vs highway miles, tires, brake pads, etc. is probably a LOT more important than which model (kind of the same make) after 10 years and 150 kilometers.
Do a compression test, check for head gasket leaks, look for accident damage - that's more important than Toyota vs Lexus vs Honda vs Acura - they 're all good choices if you get a good example, they all could be junk if neglected and/or abused.
Research transmission issues for the 2012-2014 Camrys. I would avoid if I were you.
