Hello,
A friend of a friend wants to sell me a 2009 Nissan Murano for around $4500. The car has 124K miles on it and it will primarily be used to do Lyft and Uber in an urban area. Is this a good purchase? Are these cars reliable?

No! Nissan's have garbage Automatic CVT transmissions. The worst one's are the one's from 10 years ago. They usually fail around 110-130k miles, that is why you can find them cheap with that many miles. Urban city miles will just put more strain. If you spend 5k for the car, the transmission will double the cost in just a few months. RUN AWAY!
They are reliable untill 50.000 miles and then it is a kill or be killed game that starts with those Nissans....
