Hello, I'm looking at a 2009 Nissan Sentra for a daily driver. It has 52,000 miles with a manual transmission. I know they're not made as well as they used to be. What is it worth and would it be dependable? Should I look elsewhere? Thanks a lot!

Ok so 2009 is actually a pretty good year for owner complaints and it is a manual transmission with lower mileage. I would not pay anything more than 4 grand for it, and that is a stretch. Have a mechanic check it out before purchase to make sure it is in good mechanical shape.

But as always it is a good idea to know common problems so check this site out: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Nissan/Sentra/

It could be dependable for a while especially if it was cared for that is why it is crucial to have a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection who knows don't pay much and if it lasts 5 6 years than you got your moneys worth but I doubt it will absolutely fall apart like a Cruze or Chrysler 200. It depends on condition and how you will use it. If you drive 20k miles a year and beat it up, I can bet it will have tons of problems as it ages, vise versa is also true.

Having a manual transmission works in your favor, as the automatic CVT’s from Nissan are weak. That’s low mileage for a 2009. Like the others have said, have the car checked out. Those cars do have good gas mileage if you end up buying it. Best of luck

Depends on how much you pay for it. If you can find an older Toyota or Honda with the same money, I would not choose Nissan. Nissan quality is not only related to the transmission.
