I am unable to complete my TX state inspection for my 2009 GMC Acadia with P0430 and P0420 codes.
I erased the codes and ran several miles to make the computer ready as said. By the time the computer is getting ready , even the check engine light is also coming on.
How to make the computer ready and not the engine lights on. Thank you
Dreaded cat codes... here is what I do to get my son's old 5 bmw to pass... clear codes, have premium gas in it with additive to increase octane (B12 or similar), intentionally do drive cycle to cause drive cycle parts to pass that are not cat related first and try and prevent the cat cycle from completing and get it inspected before the cat cycle completes (your allowed for one to not be completed... unless another law has changed/passed).
But you need new cats likely and figure out the reason they failed (oil consumption, poor a/f ration, O2's ect).
Also you can try a spacer bung on the rear O2 thus removing it from the exhaust stream somewhat.
Overall a real pain and I would suggest if you get it to pass, trade as $ per year is going to continue.
