Hey Scotty, I saw your video about Scion XB's a few months ago (a reliable every day driver that could last a long time and could be purchased at a good price) and you where correct. I have the 2009 XB, and with just a little TLC, it runs great and doesn't consume any oil with 150K on it. My question is, when I purchased it, it did consume about a quart of oil every 2500 miles, after doing the basic MAF sensor cleaning, changing filters, and plugs, it was still using a bit of oil. Once I changed the PCV valve, it completely went away and no longer consumes oil. I did see the PCV valve was gunked up when I removed the old one, how does that affect oil consumption? Do all of these 2.4 4-liter engines from this period eventually consume oil or just the majority of them? What should I expect over time?

They don't all consume well and the PCV valve is to vent the crankshaft if they're gunked up they stay open and instead of venting the air from the crankshaft they suck engine oil into which is what you don't want
