i am looking at a 2009 scion xb with 211,675 miles automatic 2.4l i4
would you like to hear our opinions about 2009 Scions?
yes
You clearly haven't checked out the Used Car Buying Guide page, look at the In Progress Toyota and Honda common problems page linked below and scroll down to Scion XB and see if you should buy it. Long story short, please don't buy it for any real money. If you want I could explain the issues in depth that is related to the 2.4 engine but honestly this engine is in the top page of the forum every day so basically Toyota made the engines wrong and they burned oil so much the engines need to be replaced and this starts well before 100k miles my friend with a 2.4 rav4 hasn't had good experiences with it at just 65k miles so I'd recommend you to not get this vehicle.
Here is what 2009 Scion XB owners most complained about:
"I bought my 2009 Scion xB brand new and have loved it and mothered it the whole time. In the last year and half, I started to realize that it was burning A LOT of oil! I'm checking it every couple of days, just in case, and found that I need to add at least a half quart every week, just to keep it above the add mark. I'm not working right now, so the expense of fixing the problem would be painful, but the cost of oil is killing me slowly."
"I bought this car and it was great but the more I drive it the more oil it burns, now it is burning up two quarts of oil every 100 miles. I will have to sell this car if Toyota does not fix their problem."
"I checked few weeks ago. I went to mechanical auto repair and they added three quarts of oil. Today I checked, now low oil."
etc.etc.
I see a common theme
