Hello Scotty
My 2009 Corolla le automatic with 170,000 miles has started to jump once on highway then a week later heard buzzing sound from differential, I think
I purchased car with 135,000 and not sure if transmission fluid was ever changed
I took it to transmission place and they said I needed a new transmission ~ $3600
I wanted to know is it worth trying Amsoil synthetic fluid with new transmission filter.
Would only drop the pan and replace filter and add new synthetic with the old fluid.
Car still drives with the low humming sound.
or any additive to try
Thanks in advance
Frank

What do you mean by "jump"?

Noises can telegraph all over a car. The actual source should be determined.

What does the transmission fluid look like?

What tests did they perform to determine this? You might want to get a 2nd opinion.

If the transmission is worn out nothing much will help. Depending how bad the current fluid is, new fluid might make matters worse. (See the FAQ for details on transmission fluid issues.) Additives are a crap shoot and any relief they provide would be temporary.
The jump was driving on the highway and seemed to lunge while driving 65 mph
the transmission fluid looks red and not burnt
The shop put the car on the lift and said they could tell it was the differential (transmission shop)
I can get a second opinion
sound doesn’t initially start when driving the car but does come later
