Hi!!
2009 Toyota Highlander with 165K, all is good. Except excessive squeeky noise when putting car into park. The engine and car visibly move back and forth if we hit the brakes hard while putting the car into park. After turning the car off and opening the door you can clearly hear and see the engine moving with lots of squeeking.
I noticed the upper mount bushing was cracked, so I replaced that one easy. The car did noticeably improve, but the noise is still lurking, but now underneath the engine. Has anyone replaced those lower engine mounts?? I'm thinking I will have to take this to a mechanic as i'm a very basic DIYer. Just want to get anybody's opinion on this matter.
Thank you!
Yeah it is a job getting those lower mounts off. You basically have to be able to pick the engine up in the air. Most guys use a cherry picker to pick the engine up. You can try to jack it from the bottom but then you'll often bend the oil pan or damage something else
