I went to a reputable mechanic in my area and had my car looked at because my check engine light came on. It has 2 codes P0014 “A”camshaft position timing over advanced and P0011 “B” camshaft position timing over advanced. They told me that I need to replace the all the VVT solenoids but they say that it will be almost $1000 to do the job. Can I do something like this myself or is it best if a pro does this? I have a decent amount of knowledge about mechanics in cars and a garage full of tools but not $1000 to throw around.

Thank you. The mechanic told me I needed to take the whole head of the engine off. I’m glad I asked before I forked over my money to them. The literally “fixed” my vehicle wiring with butt connectors. I could have done that and what’s worse I paid them $300 for that service something that would have cost me $5 to do they charged me $300
