2010 Chevy Malibu 2.4l has a small leak that doesn’t always leak oil but after driving a far distance it has a little spot on my driveway. I had a buddy look at it at shop and said it was a failing seal on the front engine oil cover? Said it could be a round a grand to fix it...is there a better solution like a sealant additive? If so where do you add it to help fix the seal...thanks in advance

Have you definitively identified the source of the leak? If you're lucky you may just have a leaky valve cover gasket dripping oil down into that area. You can use UV dye to find the source of the leak.
Any sealant additive is not a "better solution" - it would be a temporary bandaid at best and may not work at all.
