180xxx miles, 3,500 idle hours... When I shut my car off there is a loud, metallic, tinking noise coming from somewhere in the engine and it sounds like I am throwing a rock at metal. It will happen once in a while when I am driving and it always happens when It is shut off after driving. Depending on how far I drive and the engine temp it's louder. If I drive around my block and park it, it will make the noise but it is quiet. If I drive to get it to normal engine temp for about 5-10 minutes or more It is pretty loud. I have a video of the noise it makes when the engine is warm. Thank you for your time. I hope this is enough information.
Where is the link for the video?
Always cars age metal heats and expands and then when you shut it off it cools down. They tick long as it runs okay. It's nothing to worry about. The only taking noises you got to worry about is the noise they make when they are running and driving down the road
Ok thanks
