I know nothing about cars I have a 2010 dodge journey that needs break pads and rotors due to steering wheel shaking when braking and I have a friend who is fixing the car for me I just need to buy the items. Would greatly appreciate a list of items that are needed to do the job safely and correctly and the correct ones that are for the specific vehicle. Thank you!
Just pads, rotors, and a can of brake cleaner from the parts store. The jack and lug nut wrench that came with your vehicle.
Hopefully your friend has tools.
With this friend I hope he knows what he is doing. Any auto parts store should have a good renters program for borrowing specific stuff like the brake caliper compression tool. You can also walk into said auto parts store and ask them for pads and rotors and the like. Whatever they got should be alright. Quick tip: To reduce chance of brake noise after the job use a little anti seize. Can google specifics if you want to buy online as well.
