2010 F-150 Triton V8 Valves Chattering

Scotty,

I have a 2010 F150 with 160k miles on it and original owner. The valve train is chattering really bad as the engine is under load with low RPM's. I have taken it into a shop to have it scanned a few times and they have told me there are no fault codes. They also tell me that I need to change the plugs and its 1500 bucks. The truck is only worth 10k so I have not done it of course. Is this a sign that the engine is starting to wear out? Is it time to sell it before I need to spend a ton of money fixing it? The truck has had a hard life in the mountains of Colorado but has had mobile 1 full synthetic on every oil change since new.

I'm not a huge fan of this guy but I think he is correct about this.  I would get rid of it and fast.

I guess my next question is how much longer until it explodes?

That is the million dollar question. If you don't want to get rid of it then do just that drive it till it explodes I would not put any money in it except changing the oil.
