2010 F150 5.4L ticking?

Scotty, I have a 2010 F150 with the 5.4L . After the engine gets to operating temperature, I can hear ticking coming from the engine. I have a Ford mechanic friend who told me Triton engines have noisy valvetrain as they age. A second opinion told me it's more than likely the vvt solenoid causing the noise. Ford mechanic buddy put in the updated cam phrasers, inspected the valve springs, but didn't correct the issue. Would love your input on this.

Extremely common problem. Those are just dud engines. The only fix is to replace the engine and change the oil every 3k miles.

And that's exactly what happens EVERY time. Sorry to say, but you wasted your money.

Bummer if that's truly the case. The truck is nearly paid off and still runs strong. I don't wanna trade it in anytime soon because of the inflated market. Any recommendations as far as crate engines? Jasper or just rebuilt?

Jasper or Powertrain Products
The job will cost around $7k installed
Make damn sure it's installed by someone experienced who knows what they're doing.

I have a 2007 F-150 with the 5.4L Triton. 176,400 miles on it. My neighbor has 250,000 miles on his 2006 5.4L Triton (original engine). Both always had a slight tick. Doesn’t bother me and the trucks have never left us stranded. Change the oil every 3,000 miles and spark plugs every 50,000 and the 5.4L is fine. No need to sell the truck or panic!

Those engines had a lot of issues. A lot of them were corrected in the revised 5.4L that you have in your truck. The 12th gen trucks have revisions to the timing system, spark plugs and cam phasers. I'd recommend checking out this youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/@FordTechMakuloco he specializes in fixing common issues with the 5.4L, 3.5L and 5.0 engines. Very knowledgeable with the common issues with those engines.
