losing power while driving

The car has about 56000 miles. I've had it for the past 3 almost 4 years financing. I just replaced the battery last month to a new optima red top battery because I heard that they're better and I was due for a new one anyway  However I noticed the check engine light came on a couple of times before I went to get the car serviced with an oil change. I mentioned it to the advisor, they said b they'll have the mechanic check it and the battery. They said battery was great. The engine light was off and I was good to go.. The other day while driving on both the city streets and highway, most of the dashboard warning lights came on and started flickering while I'm driving. It also slowed the power down in the car and it felt like the car weren't into neutral but it wasn't. I had to increase my speed on the highway to keep up with traffic but it was difficult so I threw on the hazards and tried pulling over. I had to do this 3 times on my way driving home. I don't know what to do. I mentioned it to the Mazda dealership they think it's the battery and tools him I think it's possible it might be a wiring problem because I noticed on my old battery seems like it was giving off more of a charge on the positive terminal so I think it might be the cable. I also noticed some corrosion already building up on the positive terminal of the cable on the new battery. I don't know if it's a bad alternator or not I don't think it's the battery but the dealership says it might be the battery but it can't be because they tested it and they even said that the battery is fully charged. I even told him that I think it's the cable. He said he'll see if they have that part and get back to me. It's been 3 weeks already. I don't know what to do. I don't want to keep driving worrying about the car flickering on me again or going out. I would prefer to just go to you and have a look at it if it's possible. Please let me know. Thank you in advance. I been truly appreciate the work you do and help you give to everyone.

I was due for a new one anyway

My OEM battery is 7 year old in a few days. Still working great.

a bad battery would illuminate the battery light, not the engine light.

They should have told you the trouble codes stored in your computer.

Go get a free diagnostic scan at Autozone. Post the codes here so you don't get ripped off.

I think you need a real independent mechanic. This guy has no idea what he's doing. Avoid dealerships.

Also , batteries just start your car. They don't power it. The alternator does.

You need to go to a parts store like Autozone, and ask for two things.

1 - a load test of your charging system (battery and alternator)

2 - Like I said before, you need a diagnostic scan to find out what the malfunction lights are trying to tell you.

See our FAQ on the front page for more details ("I am getting a trouble light on my dash. What do I do?")

I took a pic of what my dashboard looks like. I just don't know how to post it to the site.

Please check the guide on the front page. (" READ THIS FIRST - Forum Guide ")

Good evening,

I took the car to Brooklyn Mazda, after a little than 2 hours, the mechanic it's possibly my headlights causing the lights to come one and stay on. He said when he detached them the lights went away. When he connected it back, they came back.. Theres condensation in both headlights. I bought the car like that and questioned the sales person when I purchased the cars 3 years ago. He assured me it happens from time to time. I told him I do not want to purchase if the condensation is in the lights. When I picked up the car the next week I didn't notice any so I never mentioned it.. Months later I seen it and mentioned it when I got it serviced there. And again I was told it happens sometimes. ( Personally I never heard it happen unless there's a crack of some sort)

Fast forward 3 years and this is what I'm dealt with. Mechanic at the dealership says if I buy new housing headlights, they can see if it fixes it..

However, my key fob is still undetected in the car when powered on and the speedometer doesn't move from zero.

I took a pic of what my dashboard looks like. I just don't know how to post it to the site.
