I have a 2010 Ford Escape XLT AWD with the V6, 119,000 miles which I've owned since I bought it in November of 2009. In the last year, I've had 2 or 3 instances where I was pulling out of a business, and when I went to tap on the brakes, the pedal went to the floor. One time, the issue lasted for about 2 miles until I got home, so I took it to a local shop here in Clarksville and they couldn't find anything wrong as far as leaks, or air in the system. So I'm wondering if maybe the master cylinder is going bad, or possibly the ABS module? Out of habit, I now pump the brakes a few times every time I start it up and it hasn't done it in a while, not sure if that's actually helping or if the problem just hasn't popped back up in a while. I've had no major issue with this vehicle aside from normal wear and tear and I'd like to keep it as long as possible, especially as crazy as today's car prices are.
My father-in-law has the same issue, but his is a 2010 Focus. Is the ABS light on? That will be a major key to solving this problem. His ABS light is on. He doesn't drive the Focus anymore, he has three other cars.
Nope, ABS light isn't on.
