Hey Scotty. I’ve recently been looking to get my first car. I’m thinking about buying a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL with 420,000km (260,000 miles) on it, owner always had the regular maintenance done, and took care of any repairs. Listed for $2700CAN ($2100USD), I’ll try for less. Is it worth it? Thanks 🙏

i had a 2010 for a short time, 90,000 miles, the local mechanic said they are not bad cars, sold it to the neighbor

that many miles would skeer me pretty good though

Wow. Ok. So Fusions are good cars. Scotty's 5 used cars to buy list:

He put it #4 on his list.

They are good cars but that is a ton of miles but if you could get it for like 1500US (1900 canadian) it could be a good car.

Just keep in mind the year with most problems was 2010, 2009 would be more reliable but for only 1500-2000 dollars that is pretty good car. No way are you getting a Camry for that price.

But still have a trusted mechanic make sure it is in good mechanical shape.

But for me the mileage is way too high.

First car means only car.  For that very high mileage I’d say No. A few issues worth of repairs and you’ve already exceeded what the vehicle is worth and back to square one.

I personally avoid ford due to reliability issues with their engines and gasket issues. They look nice, but the reliability isn't there for me.

If you are willing to learn how to repair it, go on. Otherwise try to get something similar with less km (real, not manipulated) on odometer. Whatever you will pick, test it and let a mechanic check it if you like the vehicle.

Good luck!

Too old and too many miles, I would not choose that. Instead, get a Toyota or Honda.
