- I've got a 2010 Impala with about 140k miles. I've owned it about 3 months now.
- It makes a slight noise while turning the wheel, slight growl/squeak type noise, especially noticable at low speed in parking lots. I don't think it made this noise when I first bought it. It really sounds to me like a "low power steering fluid" type noise.
I just checked the fluid today before starting it-the power steering level is in the middle of the crosshatch. Maybe it should be at the top of the crosshatch?
I did notice, however, the plastic shroud around the power steering cap was a bit oily. Maybe the PO added fluid frequently?
I'm assuming this is a common issue with Impalas? Thoughts?

Try changing the PS fluid and if that doesn't help the pump is probably wearing out.

Ok thanks. By the way, any thought on using Dex VI instead of standard PS fluid?
