[Solved] 2010 Lexus IS250 should I change my ATF?

Hey Scotty I have two questions. I have a 2010 Lexus IS250 with 140k miles. I was wondering if I should drain and fill the transmission fluid? The tranny still shifts fine. Also, why would my long term fuel trim on bank 1 be subtracting 7.8% even though the car runs fine? Thanks for your help!

So I went ahead and changed the filter and it seems to be ok now

Definitely go ahead and drain and fill the transmission. As for the fuel trim, have you done a good tune up on it? Checked the plugs, filters, etc.?

I have cleaned the throttle body and maf sensor and checked the air filter. I’m about to change the spark plugs soon. Thanks for your help!

I’ve also cleaned the valves and fuel injectors but I haven’t done the spark plugs yet.

Should I change the tranny filter also?

I would

Thanks!

Sorry if I’m being annoying but when I said it shifts fine it does most of the time but sometimes it shifts a little hard. Should the new fluid and filter help to smooth that out?

It could help. Definitely won't hurt anything. And you're not annoying at all. Happy to help. 🙂

Thank you so much!

You're very welcome!

Would you ever change your engine oil without changing the filter?

No

Sorry I guess that was kind of a dumb question

What’s the condition of your ATF?

I don’t know yet but I didn’t mention it does shift a little hard sometimes but it doesn’t feel like it’s slipping or anything.

Update on the transmission. So the car now has 147k miles and I have recently done 3 drain and fills with a few hundred miles of driving in between. The car is shifting a little better but it still has some occasional rough shifts. Would changing the filter make it any smoother?

Do the rough shifts happen under any specific conditions? Or just randomly?

It’s mainly low speed acceleration

You might want to have it diagnosed by a transmission expert in your area.
