2010 Mazda 3 S sedan 2.5l 4 cylinder
So about 3 weeks ago I started to hear a loud ticking, knocking noise from the front of the engine (intake manifold), and I would notice that when going slow I would step on the gas pedal, JUST A BIT, it would start to rev up to let’s say 750 up to 1,250 RPM and would hesitate to move a little. Mind you I do Lyft and drive over 300 miles 2-4 days a week and just today after 3 weeks, my engine light came on with a code P0037 (HO2S Heater control circuit LoW Bank 1 Sensor 2) and P0038 (HO2S Heater control circuitHigh Bank 1 Sensor 2). And also I have a reading of a Orange CAT symbol in the scanner as well, I’m confused as to what the problem is, is it because of the intake manifold problem I believe is causing that noise that It would trigger that code after 3 weeks of driving or is it separate. And both codes have the same BANK 1 SENSOR 2 problem but it says high and another says low, what’s is that. I may not be clear enough but I hope you understand, thank you
Well, unfortunately, those Mazda's use a lot of Ford parts in those days and the Ford parts on the cam often start to break for the variable valve time in. Any mechanic. Could tell you in 5 minutes here in the noise themselves. Then it's either tear the engine down, spend a fortune or get rid of the damn thing before it breaks seriously
