Scotty,
I have a 2010 Mercury Mountaineer with a 4.0 & 75k miles. Sometime when I am driving, the engine will start to cutout and will not accelerate and sometimes die. If I pull off the road and and re-crank it, it will run fine. But some times after I crank it, it will not go over 3500 rpm in park. I does it mostly in the afternoon drive on the way home. But it did it this morning on the way to work which is very unusual. I do have an engine that comes on and off periodically with a fuel pressure regulator code. But the light does not come on all the time when this happens. What is your thoughts?
Scan for the code and provide the code here.
How old are your air and fuel filters?
The air filter is good. The fuel filter I am not sure. I have had this vehicle about a year, got it from a very reputable dealer, where I have bought all my vehicles, and the salesman is a good friend. I don't think an air filter would do this, but a fuel filter I could see doing this and keep doing this every time I drive it. But the car does not do it everyday and mainly in the afternoon.
