I have a 2009 Hyundai Elantra. I shifter it to L gear. Now the shifter is moving but it will not go to other gears (PNRD2). It is stuck at L. I took the keys out and now the car is parked at with the handbrakes. Thank you in Advance. .
So your display is stuck reading L while your shifter shifts freely?
Check the cable going to the range sensor on the transmission.

The shifter will connect to the transmission via a set of cables and there is a small plastic bushing that holds them together. That’s most likely what broke. If this is the case The part is inexpensive (a few dollars) and relatively easy to change out. If your shifter is between the seats you can pop the cover off and look down to see if something looks off.
This is the cable end that attaches to the shifter which will have a ball on it to go into this socket. This one is from a Ford but yours should look similar. If the pic isn’t loading put the text below into a searchbar
