My stepmom has a 2011 aveo when the car is started it blows excessive white smoke out the exaughst and it seems to be leaking gas from the exaughst before it was doing this it had issues accelerating and a very rough idle that would eventually make the car die it also had noticably bad gas mileage the last time driven and was misfireing. I was told it was probably a head gasket but I'm not convinced because it's coolant level is normal and has been for a while. It has been sitting a while now and I can see gas/ oil all the way down the exaughst and the engine bay has oil all over everything so far all I've done is change the spark plugs and check the air filter which had a nice nest on the inside of it. Started the car after fixing those 2 things and still smoke from exaughst.
When you say it’s leaking gas.. petrol evaporates if it’s left out in the open. So are you sure it’s gas, which is pooling under the car?
Do Scotty’s video on checking for a blown head gasket. It’ll give you an instant result -
If the test shows that it’s indeed blown, stop right there & consider junking the car.
A 10 yr old Aveo is worth nothing, let alone with a blown head gasket.
