2011 BMW 328i Convertible Changing Transmission Fluid

Hi Scottie,

My BMW, which I purchased new in 2011, has 69,000 miles. You keep stressing that the automatic transmission fluid should be changed between 60,000 and 80,000 miles. I've watched instructions about how to change this fluid, but the process scares me. These instructions describe a fairly complicated procedure which usually end with wait until the transmission has reached 100 and some degrees. I've had bad luck with independent garages who have little experience with BMWs. I do most repairs myself. While I avoid the dealership like the plague, I asked them how much to change the fluid and they said they will NOT do it. Should I cross my fingers with an independent BMW garage? Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

Craig

Best bet would probably be a foreign car specialist in your area familiar with BMWs.

No, don't leave it to luck.

Ask around and see which mechanics other people use.

In this case, I would use a shop that specializes in transmissions.
