Hi Scotty, I have a 2011 Camry with the 2AR-FE 2.5L engine with that annoying cold startup rattle. I'm going to perform T-SB-0041-13 which instructs the technician to replace the intake VVT gear. I'm curious to know why the exhaust VVT gear is not replaced? Is it always the intake that fails to lock? Just wondering if it wouldn't be prudent to replace both VVT gears while I'm in there or would it be a waste of money? I'm cheap too. Thanks

Well generally only the intake ones go bad
