My son has a 2011 Cruze RS with a 1.4 litre turbo and automatic transmission with about 140000km. He had the valve cover gasket replaced just over a week ago because it was leaking oil. Now when he starts the engine in the morning it has a loud clattering sound, almost like a diesel. It only lasts for a minute or so and then goes away completely. It will also do it when you restart it after it warms up, but only for a few seconds. Any ideas on what this could be?? Is it normal or should we take it in to get looked at? Thanks in advance.
maybe they put too much sealant all over the valve cover, and now it's clogging the oil pickup.
Also sounds like the drain relief valve in the oil filter is bad or stuck. Change the oil with a fresh WIX filter and see how it sounds. As Mountianmanjoe says he could have left some crap in the engine when he removed the cover and its impeding flow.
It would be awesome to hear what Scotty thinks. Im a big fan.
