Topic starter
I have a 2011 ford transit connect with 180k miles on it. It runs fine the transmission shifts fine, starter has been replaced, battery and alternator are good but it will not crank starter unless you tap the transmission under van while someone holds the key in start position than it starts right up.
this only happens occasionally
transmission has a leak but the fluid levels are topped off
any suggestions?

Well make sure the ground wire on the engine and transmission is good and strong. A week ground wire will do that. Other than that, the only thing to happen to transmission does is rattle the starter, in which case you might have gotten a poorly rebuilt starter.
