Scotty,
I bought a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 W/T 4.8l V8 new with the intent on it being a 20 year truck for me. 9 years later it's all paid for and it has served me well. 85,000 miles and no major issue. A few dents and scratches on it but that's what a truck is for. My question is whether I should trade it in for something newer before anything major happens? Are there any issues I should watch out for with this engine and transmission? Thoughts on making it the next 11 years adding the about the same mileage? What should I watch out for? Thanks
What kind of maintenance have you done, if any?
@oneimich
Just changing the oil every 5000 miles or so. I like Mobile 1. Replaced the headlight bulbs, a set of 4 tires, etc. I likely just have the fever to try something new. It really does make no sense to get rid of if unless there's a future mechanical cliff edge I don't know about.
If it has been maintained, I'd probably keep it and enjoy not having payments. That's not much mileage at all for the year.
@mod_man
I used to drive it daily 30 miles for work. Daughter got her license and couldn't work the clutch in the Corolla we had so she drove it 6 miles a day round trip to school and I drive the Corolla. We moved to TN and I then had a 100 mile/day work trip. I didn't like the 17 mpg in the GMC so I bought a 2015 Nissan Altima SL as my commuter car. Now I've been working from home for 10 months drive both each maybe 20 miles a week!
